Financial Education and Inclusion: the IBAN Project

On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan (Room NI.010, Via Nirone 15) hosted a Study Day dedicated to presenting the results of the IBAN project, which focuses on financial education as a tool for autonomy and inclusion for people with a migrant background.

The event, organized by the Department of Psychology and made possible with the support of the Anima Foundation, opened with institutional greetings from Antonella Marchetti, Director of the Department of Psychology. The day brought together researchers, practitioners, and local organizations to reflect on the connection between language literacy, financial skills, and inclusive citizenship.

Among the topics addressed: the challenges and opportunities of financial education for migrants (Alice Paone and Carolina Senesi, Anima Foundation), the relationship between language literacy and financial education (Annalisa Valle, Catholic University), language barriers in field experience (Marta Rivolta, Francesco Realmonte Association), and the impact of financial (ex)inclusion on the quality of integration (Laura Zanfrini, Catholic University).

In the second part, after the break, experiences and practical tools from the IBAN project were shared — from economic games for informed decision-making (Teresa Rinaldi, eCampus University) to the relational approach to family budgeting (Matteo Vignati, Ambrosian Welfare Foundation), and the materials produced as part of the project (Alessia Romita and Liliana De Luca, Francesco Realmonte Association).

The day concluded with a final discussion and a networking aperitif.
